Our Rich Heritage

No Snow, Not Yet!

I woke up yesterday to the children dancing around and singing something about it snowing. Indeed it was.

They were so excited!

I was not!

I always say that I wasn't meant to be born in this country. I tolerate the winters to 'get to the good stuff'.

Thankfully, the snow didn't last long enough to get to the ground. It's not here to stay yet, but here are some pictures of this summer to look back at wistfully while winter looms...

That's me driving - all big & pregnant.

Isn't this the way all children travel?

My dad, my brother and Dwayne are throwing rocks across the river. I tried and tried to get them in sync, but when the competetive testosterone is flowing, it's hard to get any cooperation...
.

Kobe rode with my Dad all day - you just couldn't tear him away.

This guy still makes my heart leap...

Aiy, aiy, aiy - I have a love-hate relationship with pregnancy pictures. I want to have them so I can remember, but it is painful looking at all that largeness!

I'm going to pretend I didn't hear Kobe say, "Let's go snowmobiling!" yesterday and enjoy the rest of Autumn before the white stuff comes to stay.

Crazy Husband

Do any of you have one of those husbands?

You know...the fun ones, the crazy ones, the ones that just love spending time with their children?

I do.

I have one that finds gross animals late at night and wakes the children up to show them his discoveries!

I protest and pretend I don't . like it that he's young at heart and does goofy things like that!

Ol' Cowboy

Great Grandpa (77) & Zane (19 months)

A Day At The Lake

Uncle Elgin took us out in his new boat. He graciously let each of the children
play 'captain' for awhile.

Kobe thought it was great fun to chase the birds on his turn...

The Lord set up a beautiful backdrop for us...

We had a few 'races' against Daddy on the SeaDoo. On your mark, get set...

You simply can't go wrong with a day at the lake.

(I know, I know...I'm looking heavy. I swear there' only one baby in there!)

Fathers' Day Fun

Fathers' Day started out with Mr. B's van driving by to alert the village of the pancake breakfast at 9am. He comes by to announce all 'major' events in our town. You hear echoing for awhile before you clearly hear, "Good morning, ______(our town)! It's a beautiful mountain morning so come on out and enjoy..."

There's something oddly comforting in hearing that voice on the loudspeaker. Small-town comforting.

After the pancake breakfast, some childrens' races at the park, and church, we headed out to a friend's farm for some noisy, gas-guzzling fun.

Safety first!

...or not!

My little Dylan was riding a dirtbike for a good portion of the afternoon. I didn't get one decent picture of him. These are some of our friends' children. Sorry Dylan, maybe next time I'll get some good ones.

Welcome, Jordy!

My brother and his wife had their baby on the weekend.

I would've bet some good money that it was a girl, but I'm glad I didn't. I would have lost it all. That's right - a boy. A monster boy - 9lbs 3oz. Considering my brother is 26 years old and 120lbs, this is a big boy!

We went to see him on Sunday. He was in the NICU so we didn't stay long - and we didn't get to hold him - but it was such a treat to look at this brand new piece of precious!

He's home now, so I'll get my chance to hold him and take in that oh-so-wonderful-fresh-baby-smell.

There's A Three-Year-Old In The House

Happy birthday, Kobe!

Nothin' Like Mama!

Mom was over the other night. She offered to read the children a story before bed. The children and I curled up on the couch to listen.
.
There was something comforting about mom reading to us. She reads to the children, but I usually don't sit in.
.
It made me think of the other times when nobody other than Mama will do.
.
Even late in high school, when I got sick and needed to puke in the middle of the night, I would make as much noise as I could coming up the stairs. That way, Mom would hear me and come rub the back of my neck with a face cloth.
.
I hope my boys are as much of a suck as I was .have that feeling of comfort when they think of their Mama.
