The 'Scenic' Route
Today we ventured off the planned route and took the 'scenic' route.
I wasn't sure at first - it was so curvy and narrow that I was starting to feel car-sick. At one point, I was wondering how I was going to puke out the window without getting it all along the side of the truck. Thankfully, that is one experiment that didn't happen.
I can hardly believe how well the children are travelling. Dylan is enthused with the camera I've let him use. Kobe keeps saying, "Is this Mexico? Mexico sure is a long way." Zane is content to look out the window, pull at Kobe's shirt to see if he can make him scream at him, eat and sleep.
Right now I'm tucked up in bed - listening to at least one snoring child - in Idaho Falls.

On The Road
I got a call 20 minutes before leaving town today. Our letter of permission was being faxed - within 20 minutes!
Grabbing the letter was the last thing we did before we left town. Thank you for your prayers - this is one less thing that I will have using up brain-space!
It was a long day of travelling today - 9 hours in all. We made it 800kms. We will cross the US border tomorrow.
I'm beat & going to sleep now. 'Night.

We're Not Going To Steal It!
We are driving our truck to Hermosillo.
It is leased.
I am still working on getting a letter from Chrysler Financial saying we have permission to drive our truck into Mexico.
I knew they'd want the basics: dates in Mexico, Mexican vehicle insurance, where we're staying.
There are some crazier things they want to know. This includes contact information for 3 references that live where we'll be visiting.
What?!
I haven't even met the people - are they really going to want to be my reference? And what are they supposed to say...they aren't buying the truck from me, I'm not trying to steal the truck, I'm not a drug dealer?
This has been a frustrating process and doesn't speak well for leasing another vehicle.
I hope to have everything sorted out before we cross the Mexican border. Please pray!

Duerme más de tres...
3 more sleeps...
Are we packed? Nope.
Are the lists made? Mostly.
Are we excited? You betcha!
Am I relieved that the morning all-day sickness is gone? Very.

I'm Back
I had pulled my blog off public viewing for awhile.
I did it for some much-needed space and privacy.
Then, when I was almost ready to put it back on, a little tiny baby (literally) secret started to grow inside of me. I wanted to journal about it, but wasn't ready to share.
Now I'm ready. And I'm back. And for those of you who didn't notice I was gone, ignore the above...

Those Poor Israelites In Egypt!
We're learning about Moses and the Israelites in Egypt.
To get in some hands-on activity, we made bricks out of play-doh.
While Dylan was busily making his bricks, I stood right beside him banging a stick on the table pretend-yelling, "Harder, work harder! Don't be so lazy! Faster! Faster!"
Of course, I was driving home the point of Pharoah and his fellow Egyptians working those poor Hebrews so hard.
Dylan thought it was hilarious and giggled his way through his work. Kobe kept looking at me like I was nuts. Zane was just plain scared & looked like he might cry.
All in the name of retention!
